PBS affiliate WPSU-TV in State College, PA, reaches more than one million viewers in central Pennsylvania including those living in the very communities that are the focus of OUT IN THE SILENCE. It is an ideal partner for the project in light of its track record in producing, acquiring, and distributing programs that address local interests in a global context and reflect the diverse cultural, political, geographic and demographic characteristics of its constituencies.
As part of Penn State Public Broadcasting, WPSU offers the expertise and capacity to ensure that programs like OUT IN THE SILENCE reach the broadest possible television audience and have an extended outreach and educational life beyond broadcast that includes DVD, interactive Web-based and video-on-demand streaming services, and other multi-media possibilities. WPSU's ability to draw upon university faculty in the development of accompanying educational curriculum and discussion guides and training materials greatly enhances the potential for OUT IN THE SILENCE as a tool for ongoing community outreach and civic engagement.
Greg Petersen, Director of Radio, TV Programming and Marketing, and Creative Director, Tom Keiter, have offered to provide support for finishing the film at WPSU's state-of-the-art facility, including expert online editing, audio sweetening and editing, compliance with all broadcast standards, and up-conversion to high definition video. Greg and Tom's programmatic and technical support and advice is an invaluable asset to this production.
