HAMMER MUSEUM -
LOS ANGELES - May 19, 2009

OUT IN THE SILENCE will be featured in a Sundance-sponsored work-in-progress screening at the HAMMER MUSEUM of Arts and Culture in Los Angeles on May 19.
 
Sundance Documentary Film Program screenings provide a rare "behind-the-scenes" glimpse into the creative process with filmmakers, film subjects and thought leaders on the social issues addressed in the films.

A sneak preview work-in-progress screening of OUT IN THE SILENCE followed by a lecture on "Gays, Genes and God" at the Marlboro College Whittemore Theater. 

MAKING A DIFFERENCE WITH DOCUMENTARY
Washington DC - October 19, 2008
A panel discussion sponsored by the Reel Affirmations Film Festival on the role of documentary filmmaking in the  movement for fairness and equality, featuring a work-in-progress clip from OUT IN THE SILENCE.  Panelists Tami Gold, (moderator), Jaime Grant (NGLTF), Cathy Renna (Renna Communications), and Joe Wilson and Dean Hamer.

DOCS IN PROGRESS -
Washington DC - March 6, 2009

OUT IN THE SILENCE was featured at  Docs In Progress , a bi-monthly workshop at the George Washington University Documentary Center that provides an opportunity for documentary filmmakers to screen their unfinished works and get valuable feedback from the audience through a moderated discussion.

GLSEN YOUTH CONFERENCE
Pittsburgh PA - July 18, 2009
A work-in-progress sneak preview of OUT IN THE SILENCE will be the Saturday night highlight of the GLSEN Unified for Youth Conference in Pittsburgh. The screening will occur at the Harris Theater at 7 PM.

The conference is presented for LGBT youth, straight allies, parents, family members and GSA advisors with the goal of affirming and supporting the wellness of LGBT youth and their allies through workshops, networking opportunities, special guest speakers, and social activities.

THE GOOD PITCH @ SILVERDOCS
Silver Spring MD - June 16, 2009
The outreach campaign for OUT IN THE SILENCE will be presented to an invited audience of participants from foundations, NGOs, campaigners, advertising agencies, brands and media in order to maximise its impact.

The Good Pitch is a partnership between the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation and the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.  It will take place at the AFI-Discovery Channel SILVERDOCS Festival on 16 June 2009.  OUT IN THE SILENCE was one of eight projects selected from over 300 applicants.

EQUALITY FDERATION
St. Louis, MO -  July 30
OUT IN THE SILENCE will be screened as an educational tool for state leaders in the GLBT rights movement from across the country at the Equality Federation Summer Meeting.

QFEST
Philadelphia PA - July 20, 2009

A special presentation of OUT IN THE SILENCE will take place at the Ritz East 2 at 7:15 PM as part of Philadelphia QFest.

RHODE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Providence, RI - August 5
OUT IN THE SILENCE will be screened at the Bell Street Chapel in conjunction with the Marriage Equality theme of the Rhode Island International Film Festival.

HARDACRE FILM & CINEMA FESTIVAL
Tipton, IA - August 8
OUT IN THE SILENCE will be screened at the historic Hardacre Theater in the small town of Tipton IA as part of the Hardacre Film & Cinema Festival, Iowa's first independent film festival.  Representatives of state advocacy and equality groups will join Joe for the  Q and A.
